Trip Rank is an iOS app that records your driving trips and turns them into stats you can review and compare. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app collects, why it collects it, and the control you have over it. We keep the app honest: no accounts to create, no advertising, and no selling of your personal data.
While you record a trip, Trip Rank collects:
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts. There is no login, no password, and no Sign in with Apple. Authentication is anonymous and device-based.
We use the data above only to provide the app's features:
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to running the app.
Your route is recorded only while a trip recording is active. Because a drive can continue while the app is in the background or your screen is off, Trip Rank continues to record your location in the background for the duration of an active trip, solely to capture the route you are currently driving. You can stop a recording at any time, and you can revoke location access in iOS Settings.
If you turn on Auto-detect drives (Settings in the app) and allow location access Always plus Motion & Fitness access, the app also watches for large changes in your location and for driving activity while no trip is recording, so it can start a trip shortly after you begin driving and end it after you park. These readings are used on your device only to make that decision; nothing is uploaded unless a trip is recorded. You can turn Auto-detect drives off at any time.
The trips you record are synced to our backend so you can see your own
history across sessions and appear on leaderboards. All data sent
between the app and our servers is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
If you add a photo to a vehicle in your garage, it is stored on our backend with that vehicle. Car photos are shown to other users only if you turn on Show my car photo on leaderboards in Settings. This setting is off by default. While it is on, other drivers can see the photo of your first vehicle next to your leaderboard rank. Turn it off at any time and the photo is no longer shown to anyone else.
Optional Pro subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple's App Store and managed through RevenueCat. We Up LLC never sees or stores your credit card or payment information. That is handled entirely by Apple. We only receive confirmation of whether your subscription is active.
Trip Rank contains no third-party advertising SDKs and does no ad tracking. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. The only third parties involved are Apple (for app delivery and payments) and RevenueCat (for subscription management).
You are in control of your data. At any time you can open Settings → “Delete all my data” inside the app. This permanently removes your account and all of your trips from our backend. The action is irreversible.
Trip Rank is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the associated data.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
